This is an IDE CD-RW nothing special.
I can mount/browse the drive with audio/data cd inserted.
any help is greatly apreciated. |

You might want to try this
What kernel do you use? I got into trouble after using 2.6.8.1 and higher kernels. I got it working
fine now. The link discribes how. _________________ If there is one thing to learn from history, it's that we usualy don't learn anything from it, at all. |

Thanks for the link. I verified my .config 3 times and still no worky.
Ten I tried the obvious, I switched out drives. and the stupid thing works!!!
I guess I have something new for target practice now.
but I did notice something odd from your little howto.
Code: |
bash-2.05b$ ls -l /dev/hda
lr-xr-xr-x 1 root root 30 Apr 22 01:38 /dev/hda -> ide/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/cd

should the device be a symbloic link? |

No, it's not a symbolic link here. I guess that's because you're still using devfsd instead of udev.
I remember that the 2.6 kernels with devfsd had such links. _________________ If there is one thing to learn from history, it's that we usualy don't learn anything from it, at all. |
