|
|
After I upgraded my laptop to the 2.6.11 kernel I realized that no sound was playing from anything(kde xmms xine or even aplay). I booted back into the 2.6.10 kernel and sound was working fine. I recompiling alsa-libs arts and xmms and nothing fixed the problem. Anyone have any clue whats wrong?
Here is my system info
IBM Thinkpad T40
Kernel: 2.6.11-ck1
Sound Card: Intel Corp. 82801DB/DBL/DBM (ICH4/ICH4-L/ICH4-M) AC'97 Audio Controller (rev 01) - using kernel driver snd_intel8x0.
Thanks

Yes and everything is turned all the way up. When I play a sound in xmms the visualization runs normally, everything runs normally but I get no sound out of the speakers or headphone jack. |

I had the same problem yet the only thing I had to do was unmute a few channels in alsamixer and voila. |

Some cards have a digital/analog out toggle near the end of the settings. maybe this has defaulted differently. |

How about Kmix? There too I would expect you to have a slider "IEC958 Playback AC97-SPSA" which MUST be zero.
And two IEC958 columns on Kmix's 'switches' tab?
I have the same controller on an ASUS p4pe board..
Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corp. 82801DB/DBL/DBM (ICH4/ICH4-L/ICH4-M) AC'97 Audio Controller(rev 02)

Files appear to play but there is no sound output. I see dummy card in my alsamixer and not the regular one.
Sound plays perfectly in 2.6.9 series.
Please direct me towards the solution... thanks! |

I have no sound, too, since I installed the new kernel 2.6.11. The system behaves as everything will go fine except: you will her nothing. But the hardware is ok. |

I found a solution for the ThinkPad R50.
In alsamixer switch «Headphone Jack Sense» to off-state. Maybe the headphone-detection is broken or need some extra conector that is not implemented in the ThinkPad. Never mind. I'm happy now, hope, you will get your sound back, too. |
