After I booted my new 2.6.11 kernel, Xorg wouldn't start and gave the following error:
Code: | (EE) Touchpad no synaptics touchpad detected and no repeater device
(EE) Touchpad Unable to query/initialize Synaptics hardware.
(EE) PreInit failed for input device "Touchpad" |
(I reemerged synaptics just in case but I think that can't be the problem because it's an X driver and has nothing to do with the kernel.)
I didn't change my kernel config, so what can be the problem? |

Yes, event interface (CONFIG_INPUT_EVDEV) is compiled into my kernel... |

i have the same problem with 2.6.11-rc4-love1
my Synaptics touchpad isn't detected by the kernel (nothing about synaptics in dmesg), event interface is compiled.
i tested with knoppix3.7 (kernel 2.6.9) and it works... _________________ "Without evil there can be no good so it must be good to be evil sometimes..."

I emerged gentoo-dev-sources-2.6.11-r2 and xorg-x11-6.8.2-r1 and now my touchpad works again! |
