|
|
hi,
i use xfce4.2 and have the xorg-transparency enabled. everything works fine, except my firefox (i use the binary). when i switch through my virtual desktops and return to firefox, scrolling is really stupid. it looks like this: click
but that's not funny. i merged mozilla-bin to test and there the problem was not. has it somthing to do with using the binary? has someone else this problem? i really like these effects but don't like to use a different browser..
hope you can help, rokaef. _________________ Everything must be available in abundance, then are we never alone. |

Im curious, what happens if, once you get this problem, you either reload the tab, or close it and use another tab. Does this occur on the other tabs as well, and on tabs that you havnt opened yet? |

did you enable hardware acceleration?
if you have an nvidia card, add
Code: | Option "RenderAccel" "true"
|
to your xorg.conf device section |

it's just the one tab. and reloading,... helps. but that's no solution..

i have a nvidia card and this option is enabled.
do you think it would help to use mozilla-firefox and not the -bin version? _________________ Everything must be available in abundance, then are we never alone. |

I think its just firefox and compositing not working well together.
Firefox is one of the many apps that doesnt work well with compositing yet, as it makes certain assumptions about the screen it draws onto, which it really shouldnt make. |

that's bad. i like firefox because of mouse gestures and adblock.. does galeon or epiphany have such extensions? _________________ Everything must be available in abundance, then are we never alone. |

No.
In any case, I dont think that shifting to one of them will make a difference. They all use the Gecko rendering engine, so they will all suffer from the same problem. |

You could try compiling firefox yourself.
I cant make any guarantees it will fix the problem, but it may be worth trying |

i get the same error from time to time. It happens when i scroll upwards, then the output is totally fucked up. I compiled firefox from source though... _________________ Do you know the secret hand shake - you best use it.

You can try Konqueror. It's the browser of the K desktop environment. Has some nice features although and I didn't notice the same problem like in firefox. Btw, to get the latest version and ONLY konqueror, unmask the needed kde-packages in /usr/portage/profiles/package.mask

i compiled it, but still the same..

i have nothing kde-like installed, so i don't like to merge qt, kdelibs.. but thanks.
i tried out galeon and kazehakase (both gtk2 and based on mozilla) and they're quite cool. especially kazehakase. this one can handle mouse gestures and shows a thumbnail of the following site when you move your mouse over a link. nice effect. i guess i stay with kazehakase atm.
if somebody finds a solution because of the firefox-problem, plz tell me.
thx, rokaef. _________________ Everything must be available in abundance, then are we never alone. |

Open your mind for new possibilites! I'm a fluxbox user and I am using KDE-Apps. Being a ultra-light fluxbox user doesn't mean you're not allowed to try something KDE or QT-based out. I swear, one day you will be forced to emerge qt & kde-stuff! _________________ e17 documentation | Be free and use Jabber as your IM! | Combine IRC and IM |

i started with kde when i first used linux. but most of my apps where gtk-based, so i tried out gnome. and the only reason i kept qt and stuff was because of k3b. but now i use graveman or terminal...so, no reason to install them and kazehakase is really nice!! _________________ Everything must be available in abundance, then are we never alone. |
