ok, I just installed gentoo...on boot I get an error message about "file /etc/hostname not set"
what is the /etc/hostname file, since one doesn't exist on my box, and how would I go about making one? _________________ -Rajl

Did you see step 21 in the install guide? _________________ Quis separabit? Quo animo? |

check ur /etc/hosts ; /etc/hostname ; /etc/env.d/01hostname
and just to make sure #hostname <urhostnamehere>
and like kanuslupus said check out that step
'man hostname' is a good read also |

/ect/hostname contains the DNS name you want your Gentoo box to have. You have to create it manually at install time (or after).
echo 'whatever.localnet' > /etc/hostname
That's all there is to it. _________________ (7 of 9) Installing star-trek/species-8.4.7.2::talax. |
