I understand that apache 1 and apache 2 are slotted and that it should be possible to run both. I currently run an Apache2 server but I need Apache1 also. I wanted to help out with the Gentoo documentation project and would really like to run axkit but it requires Apache 1. I just wanted to know some steps to get this up and running without damaging my Apache 2 installation. Thanks for your help.

only wa y I can think of would be changing the final install directory so instead of /etc/apache it installs to /etc/apache1. Then with apache 1 you have it run on a different port like 8080...
