Hi, after having a trouble free installation of gentoo myself, a friend of mine decided to switch to gentoo linux aswell. The problem is, when emerging packages he gets a problem with it... basically he tries the command and it tries looking for the ebuild files on the following server: Code: | gentoo.osousl.org[1.0.0.0]:80 |
So it's trying to find the stuff, but cant because its trying to find it at the ip 1.0.0.0... which is obviously wrong. Whats weirder is that he can then type Code: | ping gentoo.osousl.org | and it finds it fine, and then for a little while afterwards, the emerge command will work, but then it seems to forget the ip address after a while and then it tries looking for that server at 1.0.0.0 again.
So i brought my nice shiny wireless laptop with gentoo on it to his place (this one has installed elsewhere with no problems) i try emerging the same package and i get the same problem!!! So could this be a router problem??? sounds to me like a simple problem with nameserver(s) but I don't know how to fix it...
thanks in advance _________________ He came, He saw, He... er, let's not go into that one |
