You got the title correct but not the command (source /etc/profile)
What exactly's wrong? Konsole should be acting just like the ttys. _________________ Command-line ACCEPT_KEYWORDS is considered harmful, use the package.* files.

what happens is simply that when i open console it doesnt reflect any of the changes i made to the /etc/ptrofile file.
i tried putting that line back in ~/.bashrc, this time at the end. i tried with and without the . b/w the source and the /etc/profile |

If you do "source /etc/profile" manually, do your changes work? |

If you look in "/etc/passwd", is "/bin/bash" the shell being used for the user having problems? My root user looks like this:
Code: |
root:x:0:0:root:/root:/bin/bash

There's got to be an option somewhere to tell bash to start as a login shell... |

What exactly are you trying to change? While I use .bashrc almost exclusively, I have added some stuff like /usr/local/bin to the path (in /etc/profile) and this reflects on all of the user accounts in konsole. |

Hi I start my konsoles from the kicker panel or desktop and I modded the properties of the panel icon to be
konsole --ls
this starts the console as a login shell and it sources .bash_profile in my home directory |
