|
|
Posted this in here as it didn't seem to fit under installation..
Recently got back into the swing of gentoo, and Have no problems what soever that seem to do anything to my uptime.
My only problem are two things that happen on bootup.
I get a "notice"/error telling me that my modules.conf is more recent then my modules.dep (in the kernel directory), I did a quick search on google for this error and found nothing that had helped me.
The full error is below:
Quote: | Note: /etc/modules.conf is more recent than /lib/modules/2.4.28-gentoo-r7 /modules.dep
Note: /etc/modules.conf is more recent than /lib/modules/2.4.28-gentoo-r7/modules.dep
.... [/snip] |
The error repeats a few times (about 15) and then the bootup continues on.
My second problem is also a message that shows (about 15 times), and then the bootup continues on.
The error is similar to
cannot load module i810-tco
I'm pretty sure i810-tco has to do with audio, but I have no problem with ALSA and the soundcard (emu10k1x if it matters) once I am booted up.
Thanks.
Kernel 2.4.28. |

Yes, I have ran modules-update before and no luck, I just found depmod which looked releated, but running this did nothing either.
Thanks for your reply. |

I did some more searching today and still can't seem to figure out the problem, depmod -a (from a google post) didn't seem to return anything, and a 'touch' command did not either.
Both of these problems seem to slow down the boot, to a few minutes.
Anyone have any ideas? |

I have a compiled 2.6.x kernel, but I seem to have problems booting to it (an error with a boot():: propmnt, and a bad root device (it tells me i can't use my scsi drives... /dev/sda5, etc), though I have compiled it in 2.6.x using genkernel.
This does work in 2.4 (after enabling SCSI, so this is not my current problem, only the two above errors are bothering me, and it is a problem as it causes the boot to be very slow).
Thanks |
