|

I have installed mythtv on a friends box and everything works great, except for tv. I can do the setup (ivtvctl stuff) and mplayer /dev/video0' works fine, but when I select Watch Tv in myth all I get is a black screen that seems to hang X. I can ssh in but killing X doesnt send me back to a console. |

Weird, it is really playing tv! Only on the S-video out and not on my monitor like I expected... Is there a way to change it? |

hmmm...
I had a similar problem. I noticed that myth is by default configured to use XvMC, which made it crash when watching tv. There seems to be a problem with it and xorg. Disabling it helped me for that, thoug it seems that i have a higher CPU-load than i used to have with older myth versions and XFree. Also OSD causes a bit choppiness. I also tried activating the tv-out, though it's not connected, but it seemed to make myth run smoother. |

Disabling XvMC fixed above problems for me. |

You haven't said anything about your setup, not even what card you're using. How is anyone supposed to help? |

Doh /me slaps head. I am running this on a friends Althon 1000 with 768MB ram, It has a Hauppage WinTV 350 with tv-out. It also has a Nvidia TNT2 32MB graphics card, I would rather it just play tv on my monitor rather then the 350's s-video out. I got to the point were "watch tv" will play on the wintv's s-video out but it hangs after about 5 minutes. I think it has something to do with ivtv-fb. |
