I know there's been a lot of threads on this already, but my question is different from the others I've seen.

If I'm going to be able to check my work email from Linux I need a mail client that can use an Exchange 2003 server, but not through IMAP. My company's exchange server doesn't have IMAP turned on and is hosted externally so I can't turn it on myself (I'm IT). I tried getting our hosting company to turn it on but they don't seem to want to. So I need a client that can connect to an Exchange server through the normal Exchange method (WebDAV).

Are there any clients for Linux out there that can do this? (It looks like Evolution can, but I'm not willing to pay to check my email.)

You can get it at no charge (it _is_ GPL'd after all...):
Code:
# emerge mail-client/evolution

I thought I had read somewhere that you had to pay for the exchange module. Oh well, guess I'll just try it and see.

As webmail goes, it's pretty good. But I hate webmail with a passion.

The exchange connected used to be proprietary, but Novell has since released that under the terms of the GPL as well. So now it's bundled with Evolution so far as I know...

Ah, that would explain it then.

Thanks! :)

Yeah evolution-data-server should do the trick. Nevertheless it didn't wan't to do it's job here. I dunno why because it works with Outlook 2003 and exactly the same settings...
