|
|
Hello, it's like this i have newly upgraded to this:
Lanparty nf4 Ultra-D ( Socket 939 )
AMD Athlon 64 3500+
1024MB ddram
Leadtek Winfast PX6800TDH 256 DDram
Audigy 2 Soundcard
Now i wonder, should these hardware be able to run Gentoo properly. I think that Audigy 2 should work, not sure about Leadtek Winfast, and if my network card will work. The network card that my lanparty has is:
Code: |
Dual Gigabit LAN - Vitesse VSC8201 Gigabit Phy and Marvel 88E8001 Gigabit PCI.
Fully compliant to IEEE 8023 (10BASE-T), 802.3u (100BASE-TX) and 802.3ab (1000BASE-T) standards.
Integrated power management functions.
Supports IEEE 802.3u auto negotiation.
Supports wire for management.
|
If anyone know if this will work good and properly, then i would be greatful for any information i need to know so i don't install it and then it aint gonna work.

the sound card should work. I refer you to google and LinuxQuestions HCL
its not really gentoo specific and should proboably be in kernel and hardware, btw. _________________ Programming is the process of putting bugs in.

The two network connections work without problems if you pick the right drivers: forcedeth for the
nForce4 chipset and skge for the Marvel one. The latter driver is included in the latest gentoo-dev-sources
(2.6.11-r3), called `New SysKonnect GigaEthernet support'. Don't use the older sk98lin driver as it fills
your logs with `internal Software error's. It's good enough for the install, though. |
