Hi all
I'm installing a new release 2004.3 gentoo onto a 64bit amd, i have 1 SATA 120 gb and 1 30G IDE, I want to install gentoo on the 30G IDE leave the 120G For xp.
When i boot with Livecd, i can see that he vind all my device drivers and stuff. I see the SATA 120g And the IDE 30g
SATA 120 MD0
IDE 30G HDA
When i try to fdisk /dev/hda
It tells me unable to open /dev/hda
When i ls -l into /dev i cant even see hda i only see hdc and that is my cdrom
I already turn off my Smart boot in cmos.
I had Linux Redhad fedora core 3 on the 30g hdd. So i thougt it couln't see the particions so i boot with win98, fdisk it and leave it with no particions.
Please help ME _________________ Tiaan Strydom

Since it's an SATA it's probably being recognized as /dev/sda
It might instead be using /dev/hde or hdg if the livecd is using a fairly old kernel. |

I have the same issue, the amd64 live cd does not recognise hd* anything. fsisk -l gives no output although hdc (cdrom) ok. I have a normal 40gb hda drive, the x86 disk recognises it fine, anyone know of the driver to modprobe? _________________ iain |
