mount: mount point /mnt/gentoo/proc does not exist
mkdir /mnt/gentoo/proc
mount -t proc none /mnt/gentoo/proc
chroot /mnt/gentoo /bin/bash

You have not extracted the stage 1/2/3 (choose one) tarball onto /mnt/gentoo !
For example this is what I extract, your filename WILL differ.
Code: | # cd /mnt/gentoo
# tar xvjpf stage3-athlon-xp-2004.3.tar.bz2 |
The thing is that the stage tarball will have a name starting with stage. You need to untar this file to your hard drive. |

H-H, please re-check your steps. i am almost sure you missed something. as a quick reference, choose this:

//edit: oh, just realize you are on amd64, my bad.. but i doubt the 1st steps differ very much, though.. |

If you are not installing Gentoo, you should direct this new question into the Networking and Security forum. |
