I have two monitors on a GeForceFX 5900XT, one X screen per monitor (since I don't like how KDE manages the desktops in TwinView mode). However, when I watch movies on one monitor, I find it terribly annoying to have a desktop visible on the other monitor. So, is there a way to blank or turn off (using the power switch doesn't count) screen :0.1 while still using screen :0.0?
I'm running KDE 3.3.2 on X.org 6.8.1.901 on an AMD64.
The KDE screen saver works on both screens. So does "xset dpms force [standby|suspend|off]". The XScreensaver manual claims it works on both screens too. |

I dont have a dual-monitor setup anymore, so I cant test it, but have you tried passing display arguments to xset?
That is (depending on the monitor you want to blank) try Code: | xset dpms force standby -display :0.1 |
With my old setup I used to put windows on specific screens by alternating :0.0 and :0.1, maybe xset will play nicely too. |

Yes, I've tried that, and it blanks both monitors regardless of which screen I specify. |

If you solved your problem, I'd be glad to read about it. _________________ signature sucks |
