I've been wondering if its possible to emulate 64 bit binaries on a 32 bit (in my case, P4 HT) cpu. This is for the purposes of cross development. Sort of backwards to the normal requests !

That's not possible, your prosessor must have 64-bit support. |

Not really, you can try http://bochs.sourceforge.net/, last time I've checked, it has some x86-64 emulation capability. The project is not updated in a year now, so I am not sure about the current status.

What about qemu or that hammer simulator from amd which was used to port linux on amd64? |

Thanks all ... its looks like qemu is nearest,although doesn't support 64bit in user mode. I suspect I will be better off getting an additional server
