Hey all. I have read through all the forums and still cant get this thing to work. I have an ASUS A7N8X Deluxe mobo and I cant get the sound to work. I have tried doing all the alsa stuff, or the nvsound but none of it seems to be working. Right now I have alsa installed with snd_intel8x0 module loaded but when i run /etc/init.d/alsasound restart I get /usr/sbin/alsactl: save_state:1194: No soundcards found... which i dont get because the module is loaded... I also tried just loading the nvsound module without alsa and it didnt work either. Any help would be great.
Thanks!!
Could it be because nvsound is still loading in lsmod... how do i stop it from loading...??? |

Check if you have nvsound in /etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel-2.6 (or 2.4 if you're useing it). If you want to get rid of it just delete the entry, but I doubt it will solve youre alsa problem. If you want to use nvsound check if you have oss support compiled into the kernel. Otherwise follow this how-to: http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_ALSA_sound_mixer_aka_dmix |
