You can- Compile a frame buffer enabled kernel (see the various framebuffer HOWTOs in the Documentation forum and at http://gentoo-wiki.com). Drawback - a frame buffer console is much slower than a pure text console, and you might have some low refresh rate issues depending on which card you use.
- Compile a kernel without frame buffer console, but with video mode selection support, and use the
command line parameter. That will give you a 132 column pure text console. This is what I use. Remember to also adjust the console font in /etc/rc.conf if you don't like how it looks by default. _________________ Military Commissions Act of 2006: http://tinyurl.com/jrcto
