Hi

Yesterday, I was working on Linux (Laptop: HP ZV5230EA).
I did an emerge-webrsync [due to proxy] (the “update portage cache” took a very long time).
I rebooted and on the boot screen (with the P4 and HP logo etc), my PC beep several time (or continuously) and the screen was staying.
I panicked and I did a Ctrl + Alt + Delete. PC rebooted and after that it was ok.

I had a similar problem with my old PC (desktop) and few days later my RAM died.

On this case, is it important?
The PC was too hot after working hard work or..?

Thanks

Try to remember the beeping code, and look it up on the Internet. You might it on your motherboard's or BIOS's manufacturer pages.

Generally, the machine beeps when it detects an error during the power-on self test.

I tried, but I really panicked and went for the reboot too quickly.
I know it's not good...but I was really afraid of losing my dear laptop :(

If I did not get the beeping since yesterday - likely to be ok ?

No other problems? Instability? Funny crashes? Have you run memtest?
