|
|
I was recently running FreeBSD and have a storage HDD with a UFS filesystem. I have now made a new box with Gentoo 2.6.10 and want to be able to mount the drive to access all my data. I compiled UFS support into the kernel, but when I try to mount it, nothing shows up. Is it possible to convert the UFS to ReiserFS or any other Linux filesystem? Any advice/suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks! _________________ Gentoo 2.6.10-r6

Did you try the "ufstype=44bsd" option to mount?(see "man mount" for details)
The only way to convert it will be to copy all the data off and reformat. |

Thanks for the help! The -o ufstype=44bsd was what I was missing, and using that then allowed me to mount the drive. Now I am at least able to copy the data to another HDD and reformat disk with reiserfs.
BTW, is reiserfs usually the preferred filesystem for a data backup drive? Or would ext2, ext3, xfs be better? _________________ Gentoo 2.6.10-r6

Personally I'd go with ext3 for a backup drive. Reiserfs shouldn't give you any problems though if that's what you want to use. |
