Hi everyone!
I'm trying to setupo an simple LAN in my house.
Have a Gentoo Box connected to the internet with eth0 and eth1.
eth0 is connected to the internet.
eth1 is connected to a Windows box.
I would like to give internet acess to the Windows box. What shall I do?
Install a proxy on linux? Will that give acess to FTP/IRC/ICQ etc?
Someone told me about iptables, ipmasquerading. It talks about patching the kernel to come up with a firewall. I need some guidelines on this please.
Thanks for your help! |

Well you could go through the strenuous prcess of trying to do it in linux or you can go buy a router. You would have to keep your linux comp on all the time for your windows box to have internet acess. For a simple lan, go to a local computer store and get a router for 40-50 bucks. |
