Werid problem with cursor in virtual consoles

Sometimes, my cursor shows up in the middle of a line, rather than where it should be at the bottom of a line (that is it is like - instead of _). The text shows up fine, but the cursor is in the wrong place. This seems to happen under the following circumstances:
1) Not using default console resolution (I have it set up to vga=780, can't remember how many cols and rows that is).
2) Switching to VC from an X session
3) When using KDE.

In fact, I didn't have this problem until I ran KDE for the first time today. I also ran into this problem when running Fedora 3, also with KDE. So I think it is probably a KDE problem, albeit a really weird one.

Also, while on the topic of VCs, I notice that sometimes the images used for the characters develop problems, but they are intermittent and go away. For example, part of the character image will be blocked out. This also seems to happen mainly when switcing from X to a text VC.

None of these problems are serious, but they are a bit annoying.

Just ran into the samt problem, but for me it starts right after switching to runlevel 3.
Anyone got an idea how to solve this?
I'm running 2006.0 on a Thinkpad T30 with a Radeon 7500 and VesaFB-TNG.
