He has this adapter and they don't support linux (no drivers)

Well it sort of says it all.

But, since it can work with Macs, it may can work with Linux too. Never seen one of those before.

He says that linux recognizes it as a modem but it's missing somethign to make it work. |

There is not support for that adapter. The Usb-Ethernet drivers replaced the USB-HPNA project. However, you can see if it works with two methods:
- First, try "ifconfig -a" and see if the device shows up as a network adapter. It'd be called "ethx", "pppx", "wlanx"with the "x" replaced by a decimal digit.
If it doesn't show up, try "lsusb" (it's included with the usbutils package) to see what the system thinks the device is. In that case, post the bit that describes that device.
- If that didn't work, you can use ndiswrapper to see if linux "recognizes" it... and pray.![Rolling Eyes :roll:](images/smiles/icon_rolleyes.gif) |
