Anti-Shock function should be added into code of mouse control. This is especially good for mechanic(sorry about my bad english spell, you know it) mice.
I think it's not difficult to implentment, but i'm not a kernel programmer.
so i hope any kernel hacker can hear this idea.
:)

What do you propose the function would do?

Do you mean it should filter out hand's trembling, for instance after excessive drinking? I don't see any other purpose of "anti-shock" function.

I guess that alone would justify the work of implementing it...

I think that is what the OP meant.

It would be nice. But I don't think anyone from say, logitech is reading this thread now. :(

IBM Unveils Mouse Adapter That Assists Hand-Tremor Sufferers March 14, 2005

Uncontrollable tremors of the limbs, most often the hands, afflict about 10 million Americans, with 4 percent of them under the age of 60, according to the International Essential Tremor Foundation, based in Lenexa, Kan. The condition often starts at the age of 45.

They say this mouse will be sold for around $100.

Full story is in Information Week. Look it up on Google News.

The IBM device sits between the mouse and the CPU, doesn't it? I think this function could very well be implemented in software. Why the hardware?
Forget Logitech! Where are the developers of 'gpm'?!? :)

Exactly, this function can be implemented completely in software.
For example, if the mouse finds the standard derivation, of value of some formula of x-axis and y-axis, is very large in very very short time (<0.1 second), then it calculate the average in order to normalize the movement.
if the stdv is still large, then the mouse will think this action is normal and release its control.

Anybody would like correct my gramma and re-express in english? :D
