What I mean by this is I'm planning to do another Gentoo install, chrooting a current install, but installing the 2.6 kernel. But that is not all.
After some searching I was not able to find any remarks about whether evms might be useable on a single disk.
I have a Gigabyte gr-7DXR mainboard. The raid controller is unused at this time. I would not mind trying raid as I have two Seagate Barracuda 80Gb drives waiting for a home.
I've nerve done raid before, soft or hardware, but I would like to give a go so long as I am able to maintain a working machine.
I was thinking about installing Gentoo on one as a slave and later moving to raid.
EVMS seems a good tool for resizing partitions or maybe I assume too much. I often wish I could resize!
At the least one drive will installed with Gentoo. At this time I want to keep my 60Gb Barracuda running as it is my main system.
Part of my intent is not only to upgrade Gentoo, but to experiment with some of what I intend to do in this new install.
Thanks. _________________ ASPushkin
