|
|
Hi,
I do have a strange problem with my onboard sata controller on a via kt880 board. I can modprobe the module fine, as long as no drive is connected. As soon as I boot with a drive connected, the kernel will hang if I try to load the modules through /etc/modules.autoload.d, if I load the sata_via module after booting, I get an emergency warning (see below):
Ive tested this with three drives, all of which are brand new, so a harddisk issue is very unlikely. I have no idea, why there is a reference to the soundcard when probing this modules (see syslog).
Using stock development-sources-2.6.10-r2. Thy evil module does get loaded besides all the warnings and I can access the drive, however, doing a mke2fs goes fine until inode/block 103 of ~1800 and after that starts to crawl. After ~12hours I decided to reset the machine, as the formating was still not finished.

Kernel 2.6.11.2 does the magic, as it also fixes the via-agp/radeon-drm incompatibility. So I highly recommend this kernel for KT-880 users |
