I am thinking about dumping fink and installing the gentoo-portage system.
My question is what does `emerge system` install? Is it like `emerge system` onto a clean system or somebody else? Can somebody post a screenshot? Or tell me if you know? that would be great.

I know that, but I wanted to know this prior before I install the dmg package.

emerge system just downloads 3-4 programs that are needed for gentoo-on-osx to be operational... you need to have osx installed and the package that comes in the dmg to be able to do emerge system

Thank You, that is all I wanted to know.
Right now I am running fink, but the FINK un-install routine doesn't always work. So as soon as the new MacOSX comes out I wil start over and then I will install the gentoo-portage system.
