First of all, let me apologize in advanced if I am asking an already answered question.

As everybody has, in my xorg.conf file I have a couple of Modes, i.e., 1024x768, 800x600, etc
When I change from one Mode to the other, the new image does not fit in the screen.

Do you know if there is an option that can fix this?
How else can I switch from a 1024x768 to a 800x600 Mode without having to restart X?

Are you sure your monitor supports the higher resolution? I know that if you choose a resolution that is to high, it will just scroll the dges like a virtual desktop.

Right now I have 1024x768. If I change it to 800x600, the new desktop will not fit in the screen.
On my laptop I have 1280x800 and if I change it to 1024x768 the new desktop does not expand to fill the entire screen.
If, however, I put the new resolutions first in the xorg.conf file (so, instead of "1024x768" "800x600" I have "800x600" "1024x768") then the 800x600 will be fine, and I will have problem with the second resolution (1024x768).

In other words, how can I have all the Modes in the section Display work without having to change the xorg.conf file and restarting X.

Out of curiosity, how many modes do you have in the section Display?

If you have only one, then you do not have to worry about this, but if you have more than one, then must have experienced this problem.
