I'm running a Creative Live! (MP3, though I don't think it matters) on kernel 2.6.10 with NO OSS support, only alsa. When I run the Gnome volume control applet, I see a hundred channels of "stuff, like EMU10K1 PCM Send 1-32 and EMU10K1 PCM Send Routing 1-32, all of which have 12 sliders each. There are lots of other "things" in there that I have no way of tracking back to a physical input or output. I can run sound. That's fine. But now I'm trying to get sound out of MythTV (and failing badly) and I wondered if all this extra crap in my mixer was a sign that I had misconfigured something. Is there a way to rationalize these channels? Is there a flag to pass to the mixer applet to reduce the clutter? I'd ask about Myth, but I'll save that for another, more-appropriately titled post.
Thanks,
