I am creating an isntallation for one of my companies products. One of the requirements is that the gui and stuff run on a vncserver. To do this with the same settings everywhere I have copied the directory ~/.vnc to the installation's ~/.vnc. Vnc however doesn't seem to like this and it doesn't work unless I take that folder out run vnc and have it set the password that way... I really need to solve this problem I must have that password already set and why does VNC hate me... hehe

Thanks for any help.

Surprise, surprise, surprise.

The machine-specific attributes (hostname?) is hashed into the VNC password seed.

Otherwise, the ~/.vnc/passwd would become a subject to JohnTheRipper target.

Forget it about the "RH KickStart" method on VNC passwd.
