Well at least it does when I view it on my linux computer. If I use either the windows machine or my wonderful Philips DVD player, it looks just fine. I've tried both xine and mplayer but it just seems blocky to me. Am I missing a setting somewhere? |

I would attribute it to most likely being a codec issue. As in you don't have the exact codec you need and thus the video is played with one that works but isn't specifically for that purpose. That would be my guess.. _________________ undvd - ripping dvds should be as simple as unzip |

Wat are you using to play the files? You might be able to improve quality by using a better codec, or by using post-processing filters. |

Nothing special, I just run xine/mplayer [filename]. I guess I figured it was a processing issue since it displayed at all. I did find mention of divx4linux as a USE for (at least) mplayer, so I'm going to try that and see if that takes care of it. |

I don't know about Xine, but you can use my postprocessing settings for mplayer to see if it helps. Put this line in your ~/.mplayer/config file. Code: | vf = pp=de/al/lb/tn:1:2:3 |

if it works good on the windows machine, it should work just fine in linux too, without filters.
you can try to experiment with some other codecs type "mplayer -vc help" for a list of codecs.
I think you should try "-vc odivx" or "-vc divx4", if you're sure the movie is encoded in divx. |
