I have been trying to get a test setup of OpenMosix working between my desktop (Gentoo OpenMosix kernel) and my CC1.2 Redhat server, with rpms installed.

I have edited the mosix.map files so they point to each computer but im pretty sure its not working, i have no idea what to do. if anyone has set up openmosix, or know what i have done wrong. could someone plz help me.

In kernel configuration i added into the kernel everything under openmosix. with the server i rebooted and it automatically updated the kernel and grub so i selected mosix....... in /proc/hpc/nodes no other computer come up...no idea what to do......thx

It's not so hard. this doc was very helpful to me.
>It is vital to have the same version of the kernel and openmosix on the same box.
>Openmosix.map should look like:
Quote:

1 192.168.0.1 1
2 192.168.0.6 1

No more, no less, and exactly the same on both machines !
>Make sure MFS is present in /etc/fstab:
#mfs_mnt /mfs mfs dfsa=1 0 0
>Make sure the openmosix daemons are running.

That's it basically.
+Openmosixview is laborious to set up, but a nice way to see openmosix in action.
Good luck, if you have any detailed question, just ask :)

You MUST use to the same version of openmosix on each machine.
If you can find the same version of the openmosix patch for several different kenel versions, I guess you'd be OK.

I have everything setup as you've said, but i get the following error when i start openmosix

Code:
openMosix: Invalid configuration in map-file /etc/openmosix.map, using autodiscovery

Any help would be greatly appreciated, i've got 2 systems that can't see eachother
