Hi,
can someone check if my /etc/locales.build is correct, please? Keep in mind that the only two languages I wish are US English and Italian
Code: | en_US/ISO-8859-1
en_US.UTF-8/UTF-8
it_IT/ISO-8859-1
it_IT.UTF-8/UTF-8
it_IT@euro/ISO-8859-15 |
Is it just sufficient to add the above to the locales.build file or do I have to perform extra tasks (i.e.: UTF-?
I learned to run locale -a and locale -m to see what the system offers. Correct/useful?
Thank you a lot,
Spiro |

Your locales.build looks ok, just run echo "sys-libs/glibc userlocales" >> /etc/portage/package.use, so that when you compile glibc, it will be compiled with the locales in locales.build. You can test to see if your locales are built correctly using locales -a. _________________ "That question was less stupid; though you asked it in a profoundly stupid way."

I have fixed /etc/package.use and /etc/locales.build but glibc still compiles with all locales.
There must be something more to setup? |

Hmm...?
Suddenly it just started to work?...I don't know what?
The only thing I did was that I corrected the locales.build file. I found that it contained the original values and just modified it to what I needed.
But that cannot be the reason...?
Ok, we can only speculate what it was, no meening to to do so. Maybee it just didn't work during bootstrap.
But now I'm just happy with it Working well so far. |

that's exactly the reason. if you use the default values, it will compile all of the locales in the file, regardless of whether you need them or not. _________________ .
