Ipod Photo in Linux

when i plug in my Ipod photo 40 gig in to my pc and do a dmesg looking for a /dev/ device so i can mount it all i get is this:

Is is a PC+MAC version, or a MAC, or PC? The MAC and MAC+PC versions are formatted with hfsplus. You will also need apple advanced partition layout support in your kernel as well. You will probably need both of these, atleast the partition support, before your're going to get anywhare. I'm curious to know what /proc/bus/usb/devices says.

Check for /dev/sd* entries. My iPod mini is /dev/sdb*, but only because I also have a SATA drive.

hm well i just got myself a 30 gig photo ipod and it seems that when i plug it in via the USB 1 porton the front of my pc it dosent work, but if i plug it in to the USB2 jacks on the back it works fine.
