Hey guys...
Having a little trouble trying to get symlinks to work and wondering if anyone else is having this wierd problem. I have Samba 3.0.10 installed and i'm trying to share a directory that is within my personal user's home directory (e.g., /home/user/junk/)
Now, this folder is chmod'd 777 just to avoid permission problems. I enabled "follow symlinks" and "wide links" and set "unix extensions" to no. Now, i'm sharing /home/share/ where within this folder i have a symlink over to junk in the user dir.
When i try to view the share from a windows or a linux box i'm not seeing anything. It's as if the folder is empty. Just to make sure its the symlink i made a garbage file (touch garbage) and that did appear, but nothing else.
Has anyone come across such a problem?
thanks!
p.s. I've tried both unix extensions on and off |

I was able to fix this problem by editing /etc/samba/smb.conf on both machines, and setting unix extensions = no If that doesn't work, do a ls -l in the folder that should contain the symlink pointing to /home/user/junk/
