I jumped ship from KDE 3.4 to gnome 2.10 and XFWM4 as my window manager. One of the first things I've noticed is that the desktop and windows are slow to redraw. When you move a window you can observe tearing, etc.
This computer (AMD 2600/Radeon 9200/256MB RAM) was fine with KDE and I haven't changed kernels or modules since coming to gnome.
I can live with it, but it's frustrating.

probably a USE you should or shouldnt enabled, sorry cant help you more, but i dont use gnome nor kde _________________ Flatland Life is a Choice !
