Hello All,
This may sound wierd, but I want to change the label on the network cards in my machine from eth0 to eth1 and vice versa.
One card is an onboard 10/100 and the other is a PCI Intel Pro 1000.
The Pro 1000 gets assigned eth0, but I want it to be eth1 because my firewall rules dictate eth1 as the internal interface.
The onboard NIC always gets eth1 and whatever is in the PCI slot gets eth0.
Its no prob to change the firewall, but if there is an easy way to get those device ID's swapped that would be easier. There's no point having a GigNIC connected to my 10Mb cable modem when it could be connected to my Gig Switch

Why not just reverse their configurations (IP addresses, routing, etc.), and swap cables?
Now is also a good time to point out the joys of modular firewall scripts. Something like: Code: | INTERNAL_ETH="eth1" | And then use $INTERNAL_ETH throughout the rest of your firewall script. _________________ My glaucoma just got worse! |
