I can ssh out just fine but trying to ssh into the box always gives the "connection refused" message.
If I check the status of sshd, it says it's running. If I try to stop it, it gives the !! and the status says it's still started. I've zap'd it but as soon as I say to start it again, the whole process is back to square one. I've reemerged openssh and rebooted for grins. Still no sshd luvin.
Normally, ssh is a no brainer on my gentoo boxen. Not sure what's up here.![Confused :?](images/smiles/icon_confused.gif) |

What do the logs say?
Do you have any sort of firewall running?
Are you trying to connect as root, and have no root logins enabled? |

Log situation is a little weird right now. Tons of files in there starting with 4 digit numbers. It's like every app has it's own log file or something. The openssh one doens't show anything interesting.
No firewall between the two boxen in question.
Not trying to connect as root (although tried anyway when found things not working). |

Never mind. got it.
tail'd the messages and found that when I tried to fire up sshd, it was trying to bind to the wrong IP address (sshd_config's listenaddress param)
thnx. |
