|
|
I have just set up ntp following the gentoo guide. However, when it fails when starting the service:
Code: | /etc/init.d/ntp-client start
* Setting clock via the NTP client 'ntpdate' ...
./init.d/ntp-client: line 33: 7757 Killed ${NTPCLIENT_CMD} ${NTPCLIENT_OPTS} >/dev/null
* Failed to set clock [ !! ] |
I can run ntpdate just by:
Code: | ntpdate -u -b pool.ntp.org
Looking for host pool.ntp.org and service ntp
host found : 90.red-217-127-32.pooles.rima-tde.net
21 Mar 10:46:10 ntpdate[7860]: step time server 217.127.32.90 offset -0.016202 sec
|
I did search the forums but was unable to find any solution. Anyone...? |

Check the ntpd config file, and /etc/conf.d/ntpd for any obvious errors.
Also check the logs. _________________ >>> emerge (3 of 7) mcse/70-293 to /

Hmm, I checked the conf files once again, but didn't find any errors there. However, I took a (winlike) wild guess and reemerged ntp and now it works without any further configuration...
One question, though; what is /dev/null?
By the way, thanks for replying. |
