when ever i boot from the live cd, once the system is loaded, i keep getting this error msg that says "hub1-0:1.0: over current change on port 2" and it just keeps on coming out. i am unable to type anything because of this cos whatever i type gets overridden by the error messages. i know my laptop has 1 faulty usb port, but is there a way to disable this error from showing up? i tried booting with -nousb but still it comes out.. help please! |

Not sure if this would work, but why don't you try to go into the BIOS of the laptop and disable USB from there.... That way gentto shouldn't see the USB ports at all...

xRoNx,
Ignore the USB error messages and set the root passwd with the passwd command, then press Ctrl-Alt-F2 and log in again.
I think the error messages will stay on the first Virtual Terminal.
Anything that appears on the screen in the middle of your typing will not be taken as input - just ignore it _________________ Regards,

xRoNx,
Remove the modules wilh usb in their names and ending in which are the USB hardware drivers.
Use Code: | modprobe -r <module-name> | You need to unpick them in the right order, since you cannot unload a module that is in use. _________________ Regards,
