This seems like a silly question.. Since upgrading to 2.6.7 and retiring my SCSI CD drives in favor of ATA, I have been unable to RIP audio CDs. It worked great under 2.4 with real SCSI drives and cdda2wav or cdparanoia. The documentation I have found is mostly old and written for scsi emulation.
What, specifically, works well with IDE-CD (I turned off scsi emulation)?
cdparanoia and cdda2wav both get upset when I point them at my /dev/hdo drive, etc.
I currently burn CDs and dvd's just fine with growisofs and cdrecord.
I had lot of nvidia driver grief when I tried to upgrade to 2.6.11.5 today. Seems like something breaks whenever I try to move off 2.6.7 (past issues with 2.6.8, 2.6.9, etc).
Thanks! |

Is it the same CD drive or a different one? _________________ Use saferdomainsearch.com to safely search for domain availability. |

I removed my usb mp3-stick yesterday and had a total freeze with kernel 2.6.11-rc4. Burning performance is very bad. I had 84 times burn proof active for one audio cd. In the morning I went back to kernel 2.6.7, the last fully functional burning kernel. The whole burning story is a blame since 2.6.8.1. So keep your kernel. 2.6.7-love4 is very stable and usable. For later kernels you need the scsi-command-patch or something like that. But burning has never been as well as it has been since 2.6.8.1.
Greetings by piewie.
P.S. U shoul use cdda2wav for ripping. |
