Need Help With My Modem

Hi am new to Linux (bet you hear that all the time) am trying to set it up but when it comes to the to detecting my adsl modem it doesnt find it the modem is a Binatone Broadband ADSL 500 its connected through usb i have a drivers disc for it but dont know what to do any help would be great thanks

Hi,

The modem is not so easy to get running in linux. It is using a firmware in the
driver that gets downloded to the modem. I would go for a ethernet modem for adsl.

Don't know if any of the drivers is in the gentoo portage. So you have to
compile your kernel with the right settings, and the compile the driver.
