okay, so ..

when you boot up you get msg like
"This is brahbrah.brahbrah (Linux brah brah brah brah) xx:xx:xx: right?

my problem is that setting up the "brahbrah.brahbrah"
if I echo linux > /etc/hostname, goes linux.unknown_domain,

so I echo something.com > /etc/dnsdomainname then add to rc-update.
then guess what, I get like linux.something.com.linux.something.com.linux.something.com.

its repeated like 2.3.times
happened with old gentoo that i totally messed up, but with new gentoo I just installed.

anyway to fix this or modify that "motd before login" stuff?

/etc/dnsdomainname is deprecated. Try removing /etc/dnsdomainname and edit /etc/conf.d/domainname instead. That might help.
