i have a sony vaio s260 which has 1280x800 native resolution. i was able to get X to have this resolution but in native console it remains at 800x600. none of the value for the vga argument to the kernel (at least that i know of) are able to accomplish this non-standard resolution.
i tried compiling in radeon drivers into the kernel and it did in fact put the console in 1280x800 but at the expensive of horizontal garbage lines being written (about 50 a second) at random which makes the screen unreadable.
since i am in native console quite a bit having the 1280x800 support would be very convenient. |

Are you using grub or lilo? Could you please show us your .conf file (grub.conf for grub) so that we can check your framebuffer settings? _________________ Peace. Love. Gentoo. |
