|
|
Greetings,
I have a 700MHz eMac that I have installed Gentoo on with the 2.6.10 kernel. The main function of this machine is to host a sampling of static web pages for users to see. As such, I don't need X, and it is just sitting at a console login as we speak, which is exactly how I want it.
My problem is how do I make that screen go blank? I have searched the forums high and low, but haven't found an answer. The closest I have been is with pbbuttonsd. When I hit the key to go to sleep, the machine will power down, and when it comes back up, the monitor is still shut off, but the computer is still responsive (web server continues to work). The only problem is that to get the screen back, I have to do a cold boot. I suppose this is a workable solution, but I was hoping for something better. PMU support is compiled into the kernel, so I don't believe I am missing that piece. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Does setterm not work ??
from man setterm: Code: | -blank [0-60] (virtual consoles only)
Sets the interval of inactivity, in minutes, after which the screen will be
automatically blanked (using APM if available). Without an argument, defaults
to 0 (disable console blanking). |
Part of the sys-apps/util-linux package. _________________ All reality is the construct of the observer.
