quick note*
Don't ask that question. But if you really want 2005.0 just goto the gentoo store and donate 10.00 for the CD and they will send it to you! _________________ If the code and the comments disagree, then both are probably wrong.

Holy deja vu. Your like the fifth person to ask this this week. But since your new, that's okay (sort of... use the search function next time )
It will be released when it's ready, but it doesn't matter when it's released. The beauty of Gentoo is that once your system is set up release cycles don't matter. All you need to do to have the newest software is "emerge sync" and "emerge -uD world".
So go ahead and do an install with whatever Gentoo install disc you have (or you can even install from Knoppix), and don't worry about release cycles. They really don't matter. |

You didn't ask anything worng don't worry. The thing with gentoo is that the 200x.x designation is just a snapshot of what ever the devs decide is a good time. The latest gentoo is whenever the last time you ran an emerge sync && emerge world which will keep you updated with the latest software for gentoo. Just read the gentoo handbook for more information. _________________ Gentoo Linux: 2.6.11-gentoo-r5 Pentium-M 1.5 GHZ on X1015 Compaq laptop. |

If you decide to do that, please run "revdep-rebuild" (in app-portage/gentoolkit) to fix any breakage -- upgrades to libraries might break the apps that rely on them.
It's normally recommended to just do "emerge -u world" up to once a day; who cares whether or not internal libraries are being upgraded? _________________ Personal overlay | Simple backup scheme |

Hi
Thanks for the replies.......But for me doing online updation would be pain bcos my internet connection speed is very slow with 2 to 3Kbps. I have this last question
If i download and install 2004.3 and do
emerge -u world
at the center of its updation process can I stop and continue after I reboot the system after some time? |
