|
|
just finished my Gentoo install in a g3 ibook and I can't get the networking to work. I edited /etc/conf.d/net to have
iface_eth0="dhcp"
set up my domainname (same as this box) and a unique hostname, added it to the default run-level but no dice.
if config doesn't show a table for eth0, netstat -nr just shows localhost. Is there a specific module I need to load? I'm having trouble finding out
exactly what ethernet card is in there. The iBook is connect behind a router that also serves dhcp to this box (x86 desktop) and sits at 192.168.0.1. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve |

Compiled the Sun-gem network driver (in device drivers--->10/100) into the kernel. then it worked fine like it should. Hard part was finding out the driver (I actually compiled a ton of them into my kernel but I said - 'nah, it couldn't be Sun driver' I was wrong.
Sorry to the mods for cross posting above. Won't do it again. |
