I went 'emerge xorg-x11' and what happened is listed below.
Any ideas? I've just installed 2005.0. (stage 1 install)
(btw. /usr/share/zoneinfo/ was empty and I have no idea why! therefore no timezone is set)

Check that /usr/lib/libfl.a exists. If it doesn't, re-emerge sys-devel/flex |

If you don't, you should try:
USE="-build" emerge flex
env-update
emerge x11
This did the job here on my end _________________ mb |

I had the same error and it really through me off. I've done at least 15 stage 1 installs and never had such a problem. Thanks for the fix!
