I now installing gentoo on acer travelmate230, and I have several problems, one is
Xorg.conf Help on Acer Travelmate230
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-2241465.html#2241465
and another one is;
"how do I turn LCD backlight automatically?"
gentoo seems it turns the LCD after several mins, but not the LCD backlight.
so I need to turn my LCD backlight off by pressing fn+f6 manually..
this really anoys me.
for this problem, I have no idea where to start. what should I search.
(i just want my monitor backlight to OFF, when gentoo turns LCD output off)
(so I dont want acpid's that turns whole computer in several mins)
( and fedora did the job very well)
thankyou.
and forgive me, its first time to install gentoo on notebook.. _________________ "Being defeated is often a temporary condition. Giving up is what makes it permanent" - Marilyn vos Savant

If you are installing alongside Fedora, poke through it's xorg.conf. (Thats where I got my display settings for my LCD display, as DELL didn't know them) |

I will go and fresh install fedora, then get those confz and install gentoo again.
(cause my all partition is full)
btw, is there any other confs i should take from fedora? just for little suggestions.

You might try Knoppix first, so you don't have to install Fedora... _________________ Non fa male! Non fa male! |
