I'm at stage two of a stage one install using the 2005.0 livecd at the moment and casually noticed as the output scrolled by the fact that the basic system now includes ninety packages! I can recall that figure being about sixty-seven or so in just the very recent past. I certainly hope that this very fine distro isn't falling into the kind cruft laden base installs all-to-typical of the ManHats and the RedDrakes. What accounts for the very substantial increase in basic system packages? Does anyone know?

Perhaps your USE flags are causing it to pull in other extra dependencies.

While we're appraised that it was "removed from" we aren't appaised where was it "removed to"? Some help, kindly.

Well, my logic is that you can find out where the topic is now by looking at the breadcrumb links next to the "Post Reply" button. It's where it came from that's important, as otherwise that information is lost.

| There are some packages in system with optional dependencies on X, so I guess that adds a few packages to the total. |
